Fuel consumption

Post by Wasabi65 »

Does anyone know how accurately the fuel consumption is in the A2A Cessna to real life?
Just wondering because mine seems to be very economical. I always imagined that a SEP would drink a lot of fuel!

Well what's the fuel consumption you get on your C172? I don't have a lot of experience with the Skyhawk in RL but I fly a Robin DR400 Regent with the Lycoming O-360 and we operate it wit about 30-35 liters/h (8-9 gls/h) at approximately 65-75% power.

If I remember correctly the A2A Skyhawk uses about 8 gls/h in cruise. I might have to add that I use the R propeller in the sim with the engine rated at only 160hp instead of 180hp.

To be honest I haven't worked it out exactly yet. It is just a perception that I have. I don't seem to spend as much time at the pumps as I thought I might. Just wondered to what extent the sim matches reality.
Thanks for the info, it gives me something of a benchmark.

With the simulation being A2A you can be sure it's pretty acurate. Just remember that the values I gave you above are rough because the DR400 doesn't have a fuel flow gauge since it has the carbureted engine. You can also compare the fuel consumption to the values given in the C172 manual. That will give you something to work with.

It is very accurate. I have recreated RL flights on the same weather and ended within a gallon of the fuel burned. :)

Like the above I imagine it would be rather accurate, while I don't have the A2A 172 IRL Using the recommended leaning technique with a 15% margin included @ 65% Power in the R Model I use a block fuel of 33L/PH while in the S model @65% power 40L/PH is more appropriate. It would be interesting to see if the above figures are close to what A2A has modelled.
