Flight Control Settings do not reflected on the Spot View.

Post by Bell47G »

I love A2A C172, but noticed some issues, and want to get helps from you.

1. The landing configurations, such as flaps elevator and rudder most of time does not show on F11 "Spot View". But occasionally do show accordingly.

2. The elevator trim setting get changed radically to takeoff or other position after turning off the autopilot.

Are they FSX or A2A C172 problems?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

just to check, you have the latest version of FSX and have run the Accu-sim updater. Also that your settings are as stated in the manual found under your start menu >> all programs > A2A Simulations

thanks,

Bell47G,

The most likely reason why your trim snaps back to a different position when the AP is turned off is because you have the trim assigned to an axis. While the AP is engaged the simulator will ignore trim input commands.

After the AP is disconnected the trim will snap to the current position of the axis control if the trim control is moved at all or a signal spike on that axis occurs. I have an axis mapped for my trim and this happens to me. I just try to ballpark the trim position before an AP disconnect to minimize the impact.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Lewis - A2A,
Yes, my FSX has been updated to SP2, and all the settings suggested by A2A C172 manual have been confirmed.
And I flew again, noticed that it still does not show flap settings accordingly.

Oracle427,
Your explanations seem very logical. Indeed, I do use Saitek's "Cessna Trim Wheel".
Isn't this issue to get attention from the A2A C172 develper, and get corrected?
I ran into elevator trim stalls, became uncontrollable and crashed in several occasion,

Best Regards,

Unless A2A starts producing hardware in the form of a trim wheel that moves just like the one in the real aircraft, no I see no possible way for them to alter this trim behavior.

Using an axis control introduces this issue. This issue exists even with the default aircraft in FSX.

A trim controller that uses a rotary encoder would avoid this issue altogether as an encoder outputs the direction of rotation (up/down) instead of its current position (somewhere between 0-255 in digital storage). Encoders are usually found on more expensive units.

Flight Control Settings do not reflected on the Spot View.

Hello,

In spot view can you let us know how you mean as I've never come across this issue before. No ones ever reported it so I think it's specific to your system. Are you using fsrecorder playback or anything? As he playbacks are known to be buggy in MSFS.

Thanks,
Lewis

Lewis - A2A,
Thank you for your reply.
My FSX & A2A setting are very much basic. I don't use 3rd party add-ons.
My windows system regularly updated, and is very basic with minimal tweaks just for my conveniences.

As you mentioned, it could be due to buggy in FSX for the "Spot View".
I have noticed same problems on the "Control Tower View".
Another symptom I forgot to mention is that the landing gear wheels do not rotate when it touched down on runway.
Again, these symptoms are very random.

I hope you investigate on your part as a developer, don't mind to provide you more details.
Please let me know what you need from me.

Thanks

Hello,

it sounds like you don't have the correct settings. Please make sure advanced animations is set to ON.

Are you running your flaps on an axis? Or do you control them with button/key presses?

Hi molleh,

The flap control is assigned to Y-Axis.

Thanks,

Hello,

have you checked that no other controller is also assigned?

Lewis,

Yes, I removed all irrelevant assignments to Buttons or Axis, FSX control UI is very simple.

Thanks,

Sorry I mean for flaps, have you checked that no other device plugged into the system has a mapping for this action.

Also when you say spot view how far out are you zoomed?

Thanks,
Lewis

Lewis - A2A,

I have reviewed the buttons and axis settings, confirmed that there are no duplicated assignments for flight controls.
I' have attached the "Standard.xml" file with my settings for your review.
There 3 images show flaps setting at each stage of a flight.

Thanks,
