Hot Starts

Post by MaxZ »

Hi chaps!

Can onybody please give me a Checklist or advice for hot Starts? Either I am doing something wrong, or the shift-2 checklist is not appropriate for hot starts. Cold Start is absolutely no problem, not even in Siberia @-26°C.

Thank you very much in advance,
Max

Edit: As always, the latest core update is installed, I double checked it.

Don't prime a warm engine.

Always try to start a hot engine without priming, if it fails to start on the first try it probably needs a little priming.

No prime.
Crack the throttle
Starter on
Crack the mix lever slightly
When you get ignition, advance the mix slowly
When you get positive turnover, starter off

Let us know how it's going, no prime should have you sorted.

Thanks,

If you think you are flooded, advance the throttle during cranking.

Scott.
After a confirmed flooded engine in the Hangar. I followed this steps and it worked for me. OAT was 75F, 23C engine temp gauge cold.

1. Throttle — OPEN 3/4 in or full, 1/2 did not work for me.
2. Propeller — HIGH RPM
3. Mixture — IDLE CUTOFF.
4. Propeller Area — CLEAR.
5. Master Switch — ON.
6. Flashing Beacon — ON.
7. Ignition Switch — START
8. Mixture — ADVANCE smoothly
9. Close Throttle ASAP.
10. Start leaning.
