Lol. I've been contemplating this for a week now - I've never posted there. I think it's probably about time to open it up to a wider audience despite how that makes me nervous. (Some folks seem permanently angry over there!)

Glad you're enjoying the app. It currently isn't possible to disable the status bar in the app, however, it is a fairly trivial change.

I'll make the code alteration this weekend and make a new release available by Sunday.

I'm also going to step down the requirement of the .Net Framework 4.5 to 4.0 to enable our friends still using XP to use the app too.

Thanks Paul that will be excellent!
Thanks Mark

I've released v0.4

In the release download, I've now split the A2A C172 checklist files from the main program zip. This allows me to make much smaller future release zip files and also potentially make updates to the checklist files without making a whole new release.

The app now only requires the .Net Framework v4.

There's a new setting in the options to allow the hiding of the audio/checklist status forms.

Well, I made a post on AVSIM on the 23rd and it has so far been utterly ignored. Not a single view never mind reply.

Can anyone here confirm they can see the post on AVSIM? You may have to scroll through a number of pages. It's dated 23rd Nov and it's titled "My take on voice activated checklists". My username is the same over there too.

Hi Paul,

I viewed you post on AVSIM twice but the view count didn't increment. Then I replied and the view count went to 70.

I saw your post and also saw the same view count. Must've been a glitch. I was beginning to get paranoid :)

Thanks for checking this out for me.

Thanks for the great feedback. I don't own the B377, but it's fairly trivial to write your own xml checlist file if you have the paper checklist.

I've posted a similar text over on AVSim, but I'll repeat it here:

I've had over 300 downloads of the various versions, but little in the way of forum feedback or custom checklists. If anyone reading this is using it then please spare a moment to post your experience and maybe even share any customisations that you've made to the checklists.

Here is my current version of the A2A 172 checklist: A2A C172 - Tiger.checklist.txt

I tried attaching it to the thread but none of the extensions I tried were accepted and it was really too big when put in a code tag (even at reduced text size) and there are no 'spoiler' or 'hide' tags.

I've added cruise and pre-taxi checklists. You'd set for cruise naturally as part of flying the plane, but it's there anyway. Pre-taxi may not be needed as the engine start and after landing checks finish with setting up for taxi. It's there for edge cases.

I've also added clearance checks for taxi, take-off and landing. You can answer 'cleared' or 'to follow'. I've also added 'to follow' for the flap settings on descent and landing. 'to follow' is better than saying 'cleared' or 'set'/'checked' when you really aren't but want to get the checklist out of the way.

There are few other changes: Some items have been moved around for my tastes, mainly just grouping items that I think should be together. There are also added aliases for existing items.

Additions I'd consider
Some of these may have already been added since 0.1.
  • Option to change how long the 'Show Checklists' panel appears
  • Option to show 'Show Checklists' panel until further input (Checklist selected, 'hide checklists' command)
  • Expand the checklist object to include a 'type' variable allowing the display of multiple different lists of checklists. e.g. a Voice command of 'Show Emergency Checklists' would display a list of type 'Emergency'
  • Option to display the current item's name value or...
  • 'Repeat' ans/or 'Say again' voice commands to repeat the last checklist item
