Transparent windows (no reflections) for download

Post by J van E »

I suppose this will be frowned upon by some  but I created completely transparent windows for the C172R. It's a simple edit: I first tried to keep some of the dirt on the edges but it didn't work out too well (maybe I will give it another try later on) so in the end I simply knocked out the windows completely, you could say. (EDIT Everything else that's in the edited file is still there: only the windows have been edited!)

For anyone who is interested (there always are more people interested in this that you'd expect! ), here is a link to the file:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/185 ... _glass.zip

Readme is included.

Enjoy!

P.S. My main reason for removing the reflection is that they simply don't look like reflections when you use TrackIR: they look like stickers on the windows and for me personally they spoil the immersion and the sense of being there. Obviously this is a very subjective thing. Apart from that I also like to see the scenery in all its glory and not with a grey filter over it, no matter how realistic that might be.

Good question. Don't know yet but I think they do: afaik the fog isn't part of the edited file. I see and can't imagine a relation to the fog and the file I edited (which only is the alpha channel of the file with the reflections). Funny thing is that the fog once gave me problems but now that I WANT fog to test this, I don't get it LOL. I can't check it today anymore but I will (try to) do so tomorrow!

I use TIR and have to say A2A's reflections are very subtle, to me anyway. Sibwings Saab; now THEMS reflections! :D

I suppose I'll see nothing but reflections now!
