Hi to you all.
I have a question
Is there a repaint availeble with blanc or almost no reflection in the windows?
Are is there a not so difficult way to get in done.
I fly with photoscenery and it makes a huge different in color with are without colored reflection.
looking forward hearing from you

sorry for the inconvinience but I found the problem.
I thought I was flying in the default but that was mistaken.
I flew in a repaint with klm.
That repaint came with darkened windows but could be taken away by deleting some files.
Now it is back to normal.
The problem was not the default

kind regards

Hi I'm totally new at this. This is the first thing to ever show up correctly in FSX for me. I've dabbled around in painting for the last 10 years.

Obviously I'm not good with colors but I wanted to just try. After a lot of frustration (and helpful forum input by others) it seemed to work ok.

My questions:

1) How to edit the VC callsign? I only see the external psd files in the paintkit. I'm using Photoshop CS2 with nvidia dds plugin.

2) For the layers, should I design the entire side of the fuselage as one layer, then flip it? What is the best way to do this using software above? Or should I make the stripes separate from the callsign (which is what I did this time around).

3) How do you guys make your paint stripes and curves so smooth? You can see the need for AA in my screenshot... the lines are very jaggy.

Thank you,

Great for a first try Ryan. You might want to post a new thread on this rather than post in this one though. Re: layers it depends how you work. I personally work with lots of layers as it means you can go back and change this easily and also play around a lot more.

For the jagged lines it depends on how you made the lines. The tools will have several options along the top, you can use these to change the jaggys depending on the tool used.

thanks,

Ok thanks... I think I need to watch some more YT tutorials hehe...

Some of the basic things I want to do don't seem to work so well in Photoshop.

Many people, including me, would really appreciate to have an official XCF format too (GIMP) as current PSD does not show many shade layers.

EDIT: When I open the PSD in GIMP it looks pale and empty - many things are missing :/ The final paint in FSX looks like a tootaly new fresh plane, not realistic at all. I use only DDS plugin in my gimp version.

SOLVED: Gods help people who can help themselves :P

I downloaded Paint.NET and the PSD plugin. Opened the paintkit and saved as PSD. Opened in GIMP and voilla - all seems fine. Now with DDS plugin for GIMP the paints can be delivered :D
Back to garage then...

Okay, I've never even opened photo shop or any other paint software before, I have downloaded thew paint kit and when I open it all I have is what I assume is an empty photo shop screen, what do I import into photo shop and how do I do it? I want to try modify a repaint.

Is there a video tutorial on hope to do it or a thread that I've missed?

G'day guys,

I managed to re paint my plane.. however
when I load it back via the dxtbmp program ,
and then preview in fsx when you choose your planes the plane looks all funny
like its not in the right place on the plane , if you know what I mean,..

I cant seem to get it to look right ,,
not sure what I'm doing wrong
some times I get the paint loaded , but then the writing that I put on my plane is reversed or something
struth , this does my head in..

Hi Milo,
OK you seem to have a common problem here. Is this what you are seeing? all the texture mixed up and all over the place. If it is no problem just put your texture back through DXTbmp and flip the image over (Image/flip image) make sure you flip the ALPHA as well so it matchs up, (You can see that in shot 2 the texture and the ALPHA don't match up). One thing to remember with this texture the wings go at the top (3rd shot) However if you use Extended Bitmap as your saved texture then it will need to flip back to what you had before. Hope this all helps
Regards
Timm
Is this what you are seeing?

So if you put your texture through DXTbmp is this what you see?
Image

Flip the texture so it shows this way up and save as DXT5 (Make sure the ALPHA CHANNEL matches up)

You should end up with something like this
