Will The FSX Version Work With Prepar3D?

Post by caleb1 »

Will the FSX version of the A2A 172 with Accu-Sim work with P3D? I own both FSX and P3D and would like to use this plane on both without having to buy it twice.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Caleb, I already went down this road. You need to buy the appropriate P3D version. I always made my purchases direct from A2A in the past but this time I went to PC Aviator and used a discount coupon I had with them when I purchased the 180 (again) so I would feel I was getting a little bit of a break. I truly understand that there was work involved getting the aircraft compliant with P3D v4 and do appreciate that A2A actually installs the aircraft into v4 as the add-ons should be (don't know why they're the only ones so far that I know of) but you think that there would be some consideration for customers who purchased the fsx versions. Point is I don't think the effort to upgrade the product was as great as the initial investment for original development work. I will be more than happy to pay the token upgrade fee tomorrow for my Majestic Dash 8 Q400. I also understand that A2A has the right to decide on it's business model so I accept it and move on.

Have a great day,
LouP

You will be without support and not following the terms of your license agreement for what it's worth.

A2A has sales every now and then, so you can pick up a discounted version then.

Some people use the migration tool on P3D and it works. Others use it, and it turns P3D in to a troublesome nightmare. I wouldn't use that tool under any circumstances. YMMV.

So, I tried installing the Prepar3D version of the Comanche into FSXSE, and it installed into a funny place inside the folder where the FSX folder is located:

Then, I just copied all those files to the correct folders in FSXSE, and then it worked fine. Even the Accu-Sim works.

Want Proof?

I thought you were trying to install a fsx version into P3D. Didn't occur to me that you could go the other way (P3D into FSX)

Hello,

can you let us know what you are trying to achieve here as you mention two different things in the same thread. Also please note that initial loading does not equate to 'correct working', otherwise we would all have been using FS2004 models in FSX

For those buying for two platforms we have the bundle discounts here;

I have forgot about those bundle discounts. What I wanted to do is buy it once and be able to use it on different platforms. I did seem to get everything working in FSX so far with the P3D version, which it didn't occur to me either that it would work, but it seems to, so I will continue use it for now. I have purchased the 172 for P3D and installed it into both platforms, and it works for now. The engine started, it took off, it landed, the airframe shook when I went 220 knots, the flaps broke when tried to lower them at 220, so I'd say it works for now. If there is a feature that does not work, I will deal with it then.

Yes and maybe I should start another thread about how I got the P3D version to work in FSX instead of posting it in this one.

Thanks for your replies.

What I was trying to achieve is to find out weather the FSX version of an A2A aircraft would work in Prepar3D. Since I found out that the Prepar3D version works in FSX, I will use things that way instead of continuing to try to figure out if the FSX version will work in Prepar3D.

The answer is no it wont work.

It may load but everything will not work. The flight model and physics will be different than designed for and the entire simulation will be compromised against the test flights we carry out. Additionally no support can be given for the software being used in a way it was not designed for.
