Link to version 2.06 patch

Post by lektoraj »

Hi, I am running BOBII version 2.00 on a fairly basic office spec machine, and would like to upgrade a bit. v2.06 seems to be the sweet spot with all the bug fixes but without the heavier demand of the later patches.

However the link on http://www.shockwaveproductions.com/bob/bob206.htm no longer works.

Does anyone know of a mirror or other place it can be accessed from?

Hello Lektorage

Do you specifically want 2.06 as the current patch is 2.13 which is available here:

https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewto ... 10&t=51298

Hope this helps.

Yes, it's 2.06 I'd like as I don't have a strong enough machine to run 2.13 properly.

I basically have a cheap 2015 MS office etc. machine with internal graphics, which is ok for running a 2005 game (2.00 works pretty well on it, just the occasional CTD) but not with all the work people have been putting in since then (btw screenshots of multiskin etc. are all impressive, I'll definitely upgrade when I get a better machine).

Or are there switches etc. I could throw in the 2.13 version to take the demand on my machine right back down to the original levels? I've read here that I basically need at least a circa 2012 gaming machine to run the latest version.

Hmmm. the easiest way to get a 2.06 install now,
I guess, is to pay US$20 to download the sim from
here at A2A, as that is the last official A2A version,
which is what is offered for download.

I don't know if it exists elsewhere - gamershell.com used
to host all the versions as we released them, and it retained
the old ones for years, but I don't know my way around
that site, if it even still exists... let's see if I can discern
anything now...

Ah, here we are:

http://www.gamershell.com/search/?secti ... tain+v2.06

download and patch over a 2.00 (original Shockwave BoB2 WoV CD)

I've been going through some old CD's on which I had kept copies of patches for various games. I hoped that if I had it I would be able to send it to you. I'm afraid that although I had old patches for BoB up to 2.04, I do not have 2.06.

I've Googled to try to locate a link for you to download from. No luck there either. I did go to the Gamershell site as per PV's email but when I clicked on the links for the English and International versions the following message appeared "Sorry, this file is not yet available for download."

Sorry I can't be more helpful & I hope that someone may be able to help.

EDIT: Thanks Lofty. If 2.06 is no longer around then 2.04 will still be more stable than 2.00 I imagine.

Hi Lektoraj

I tried to attach the 2.04 patch to this 'private message'. But I just kept whirring away - I presume that the file (approx 50 MB) was too big.

I would be happy to burn the patch onto a CD and post it to you. However you would need to feel comfortable about advising me of an address to send it to. If you do not want to do this I quite understand.

If not, does anyone have any other ideas about how to get Lektoraj patched?

@PV, yes the search results just lead to the same page as the link on the a2a site,

http://www.gamershell.com/download_19100.shtml

which says the file cannot be downloaded "yet". It's the same for all BOB2 patches on gamershell.

@Lofty - if nobody has 2.06 then 2.04 would be great. Rather than posting it, there are some sites where you can upload a file for a limited time - I know the foreign ones as I sometimes get sent big documents to translate that way - but there will be English ones too (not that I wouldn't give you my name/address, just thinking about saving you time and money).

Hi lektoraj

Here's 2.05 which is very stable and old-PC friendly. This is the last patch before the new buildings went in I think, I used it for a few years before upgrading PC's.

Ok, thanks a lot.

I'm getting CTDs with it too, but it's a higher calibre of CTD now :) . Very consistent and pretty clearly memory related so I have a clear direction to work in.

Thanks for the patch, I'll keep writing in my Win10 installation report thread in the Technical Support sub forum.

I have written more in the tech support thread, but
here's a link for a 2.06 patch install exe, if I did this right:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1Rn6 ... XV6YWZydUk

(their interface is always changing, but I think the way to
get this is to click on the down arrow in the upper right of
the window that opens... )
