Main keys to map

Post by zl2bmh »

Hello Everyone.

I have 6 free keys to map. I had 9 and allocated one to trigger, 2 for flaps (up and down). G- for undercarriage on the keyboard will remain as is. So what should I key in order of most used (I'm not worrying about trim at this stage).

Thanks,
Jim zl2bmh

I use one for the view magnification toggle switch (default shift-f12)
to get a good close up when viewing a target in the gunsight.

Dear zl2bmh,
I have shared my joystick setup and buttons that I have mapped here:
https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewto ... 16#p416798

An excerpt:
f) Duke's B is mapped to fire selected weapon
g) Duke's A is mapped to toggle gunsight view
h) Left thumbstick button to cycle through guns, cannons, both.
i) Right thumbstick button to toggle inside/outside view
j) GlovePIE code that calls the "Clear?/Clear" command when Duke's A button is double-clicked
k) Duke's D-pad up to Toggle gear
l) Duke's D-pad left to flaps down
m) Duke's D-pad right to flaps up
n) Duke's D-pad down to toggle map
o) Duke's Select button to left wheel brake
p) Duke's Start button to right wheel brake
For everything else, I use the keyboard and mouse.

Excellent advice PV and VRamesh. I am very grateful to you both.

Good luck.

Jim zl2bmh.

ps: for VRamesh attention.

I went into NZ's 'trademe' and bought a couple of real cheap Microsoft's Sidewinder. Only cost $5.00 !!!

These are always mapped to my joystick and throttle buttons:

- Esc = Turn Off Padlock
- Enter = Reset View Forward
- Backspace = Inside / Outside View Toggle
- Toggle Weapons = N (switches from machine guns to cannons Me109 and Me110)
- Drop bombs = B (for Me110 and Ju87)

If you are the kind of guy that will never fly for the LW, and have no cannons or bombs, then these keys may help in combat to save time, and I always use frequently:

- Control-F1 = Nearest Enemy (this one is very important!)
- F1 Next Enemy
- Alt-F2 = Your Immediate Leader
- R = Radio menu

Thank you Stickman. Excellent indeed. I'm sorry to say I am one of those who prefer to fly RAF as I lost a couple of uncles way back in '44, so your extra advice becomes very important to me.

Thank you again.
