Shooting without tracers
Shooting without tracers
Is there a mod that deletes all tracers? I'd like to shoot without them.
FliegerAD..
Tonight, as per your request,
I eliminated the MG tracers and lengthy bullet glows,
so that now each tracer round is a small yellow dot.
If you wish that the 20mm rounds be toned down, also,
I shall do that.

Bader produced a mod for BoB 1 which removed the tracers. I'm not sure if it would work in BoB 2. Have a look at this thread.

There has always been a lot of discussion on the tracers in BoB. This one is talking about more and spiral smoke.

Ah...I had forgotten about that mod. Lots of fun
If you think you're a good shot, just you try this one

Here's the readme.
====================================================================
These files will delete visible tracer rounds for RAF .303" and Luftwaffe MG15 .762cm weapons.
To Use:-
Assuming you are running BoB II WoV patched to 2.03, go the to the Battle of Britain II\mskmap16 folder, and backup the following files
(and remove them to another folder)
bullet.dds
bullet.x8
explomap.dds
explomap.x8
tracsmk.dds
tracsmk.x8
then install the contents of this zip file to the Battle of Britain II\mskmap16 folder.bullet.dds
bullet.x8
explomap.x8
tracsmk.x8
It'll now be much harder to hit things.
Tracer was not universally popular in 1940 (esp not in the RAF, who felt that incendiary 'de Wilde' ammunition which was invisible in flight, but which flashed on impact was better).
Contemporary accounts give a number of views. Some descriptions suggest that tracer rounds were loaded only at the end of the ammunition supply to warn the pilot that he was about
to run out.
Overall, it's probably true to say that the way that visible tracers are depicted in flight sims games has a lot to do with gaming rather than historical accuracy

"Ah yes, Michael (Parkinson)," Bader replied, "But these particular Fockers were Messerschmitts..."

Re: Shooting without tracers
Sorry, to bump an old thread, but I would also very much like to try without tracers.
But the link is broken (obviously due to old thread).
But I would like to see tracer round from bombers. From 109 I don't need. I always loved just seeing muscle flash and no tracers (propably nostalgia from old movies).
