Greetings,

I have decided to try my rusty combat skills of late and I see these arcade icons displaying where the RAF and Luftwaffe aircraft are on my screen - I cannot play with all those distractions as I prefer nada on my screen at all, never! LOL no arcade stuff or HUD displays thank you. LOL How then do I get rid of these awful icons. I have tried everything on the bdg.txt file I could find. Hmmmmm. Gremlins? LOL Jeezum, I forgot how to play ...

Is this a wind up? Are you seriously telling us that with BDG letters after your name, you don't know how to remove "peripheral vision icons" ??

It is a GUI setting:

Options->Sim->View , Peripheral Vision = OFF

Options->Sim->Game , Aircraft Names = OFF

BDGness just means a willingness to volunteer, it doesn't confer expertise.
You wouldn't want to see me trying to navigate a campaign, let alone
trying to land anything. Fortunately, I have skills in areas of usefulness...

Luckily I don't but was paid well for it :D

My only "skill" is being able to download the latest episode of "Game of Thrones", pity the Borgias isn't till 3/6, another TV show with lots of gratuitous unclothedness and violence. The acting's not bad either.

I did when i was young but grew out of it. The trouble with usefulness is the more useful you are , the more people want you to do :D

I've definitely noticed that effect. These days I'm getting
the impression that they're bound and determined to extract
extra effort to make sure they get the most out of me before
I reach retirement, while I simultaneously feel that this same
situation calls for some well deserved lessening of activities.
Ah well, at least I've so far succeeded in my lifelong ambition
of completely avoiding any middle management position!

That may have been a mistaken philosophy. Middle Management is the most bucks for the least work :wink:
It was certainly my mistake, I was too happy on the shop floor.

I dunno, my observation was that it's always the middle management
guys who are dealing with failures, problems and emergencies, and
they're still there when I go home, and coming in far earlier than me (I
have this odd proclivity that I cannot face the world much before noon
(which is why I was determined to become an astronomer, but I somehow
got diverted), and somehow I have been regarded as sufficiently useful that
this behaviour has been tolerated in every job I've had. I rather suspect it
wouldn't fly in management though...)

Ah, different outfit, different management. When the excrement hit the propeller, my management were nowhere to be seen and in 20 years of night shifts not once did i see one after 5 pm :(

Thanks Buddye, I must have a corruption and need to reload. My stick has gone flaky too. I did a new install and issues reared up. (As for skills/expertise, mine in RL Mr. Typewriter Tough Guy Phantom of the Throne, is mitigating/removing UXO on the sea bed and managing subsea operations, not fixing computers as everyone knows here. Perhaps you might consider helping folks rather than shooting off negative comments.)

No, I do not like people who post negative and unhelpful shite to make themselves sound superior. Grow up.

Pappy.

No problem there mate,we all forget how the sim works sometimes,especially when you haven't played it for sometime,we all make mistakes,sometimes big one's,hopefully small one's,that's what the people on this site are about,to help people as they do,and hopefully not to criticize them.

In your work,which is very critical,i imagine you can't afford to make mistakes,so you have been doing a damn good job,a life threatening job,so computers doesn't enter in it.

:) The BDG are a group of willing volunteers who try and make time to assist where they can BUT the majority don't know everything about this sim.What i understand you could write on the back of a stamp BUT when i did have time to help test i was willing to learn.
This sim is so deep you have to be a full time professional to even scratch the surface.
There's no need for insults on here from anyone,this isn't another forum well known for it's trolling and muck flinging. :)
