Well, i'm returning to the game and forums for a couple of reasons.

First, I just want to say thank you and well done to those involved with the development of WoV. Last time I played it was around 2007, IIRC. What an improvement! The landscape especially. I am yet to get involved in any real campaigns or even big scraps, just been immersing myself with the environment and aircrafts. The engine sounds and other effects are great. The flak noise is also very realistic, imo.

With that positive message out there, now i'm going to ask for some help. What is the best way to get rid of jaggies in this sim? It looks great with override mode through nvidia panel, at 8x AA and 2x AS. However, the game seems to forget that I have override on mid-flight, and suddenly it all goes jaggy! Any ideas why this could be happening? Is there a solution to running the game without jaggies for more than 5 minutes?

It looks really beautiful, when the AA and AS is working. I've tried running it with all in-game filters off and forced override, but then the terrain and other textures go blurry! Nightmare.

Anyway, I have to say it's a breath of fresh air to come back to WoV, after years immersed in the comparatively sterile atmosphere of IL2.

P.S. still mourning the decision not to remake B17 Mighty 8th.

Thanks in advance, and again, huge WELL DONE on the revolution of the engine.

Welcome back to BOBII and the BOBII forums and community.

In BOBII you set AA in the video driver but with Aniso you set it in game (options->more GFX filtering). I run 16x Aniso and 16x AA in my video driver.

I max out all setting except Particile Desity = Medium (which I recommend for all palyers).

Of course I have no idea what your PC specs are so my setting may not help you.

Thanks Bud. I'll try your settings. I suspect the problem will occur again though. I'm just flying along minding my own business, there's a stutter and everything is super jaggy!

Will report back.

There's a couple of other problems i'm having.

Echoing my experiences of a few years back, even with the latest patch the game CTD's a lot. :(

Technical query - any ideas why the engine RPM's drop and climb for about a minute after takeoff? (automatic engine). It will go from low revs to high revs on its own.

:) Hi Danjama,I think you will need to post your computer specs for the experts to look at.
The engine setting on automatic,i have never used that ,have you tried manual engine management,it's not that hard really as there is no radiator /cooling just need to map the Mags,Fuel cocks, to make it easier to use.
I wondered if the throttle "hunted" in manual mode? i wonder if it is the prop pitch operating rather than the throttle?
Are you flying the Spitfire or 109,as--sorry just asking and getting some ideas. :)
Hope someone can help :)

We are not have any CTD that I am working at present. Look at this thread and be sure you have done all the fixes recommended and yes, you PC specs and os would help.

Do you have manual prop pitch selected?

Thanks for the replies guys - fully automatic, inc. pitch. The throttle/revs fluctuate when flying the Spitfire, not the Emil or others. I'll try manual again. (I flew with manual when I first played BoB, but started on auto. this time, for time saving).

My specs -

Athlon 64 3200+ @2.10Ghz (lanparty Ut mobo)
2GB pc3200
8800gts 320mb
installed on a sata 60gb HDD (storage HD only, main HD is 320GB)
audigy 2 sound card
Windows XP SP3
Dx9c

I think i'll try a gfx driver update tomorrow. Mine are very old (but stable in my main games).

The main issue for me is CTD's now. The jaggies seem to be happening less frequently since I tried your settings. But the game CTD's probaby every time I play, even just trying the take-off mission can end in a CTD. As you can imagine it's quite offputting, but I really want to get this baby running smoothly. When it is working well, I love it.

Thanks again. I have a feeling it's a memory issue (leak?) but i'll report back after driver update.

Your processor is just too underpowered to run BOBII 2.11 on any kind of high settings, IMPO, and that is why I think you are crashing (CTD). As I have said, we are really not working on any CTD for all of our other players. I usually do not recommend BOBII for any any single core processors that are less than 3 GHz.

It might help me confirm the problem if you would post the first 20 lines of your crashlogs (the last few). The crashlog are located in your BOBII folder in a file called crashlog.txt.

You can try to reduce settings to Medium or Low, disable MultiSkin, AAA?Flak, and run small missions. Here is a Thread that may help you test and determine settings for your PC environment:

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10091

We have had some Players try to run older versions of BOBII which has helped. Here is a thread:

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=26207

BOBII has moved forward since the single core processor and most of our players now run dual or quad core PCs which permits BOBII to run with MultiSkin and Max settings.
