Hope he brought his umbrella HC.

I’ll probably be adjusting the blue/yellow balance a bit further for some of the green fields.

Our (retired US Army) Campaign coder two27 asked if we BDG folk should allow 2:1 odds combat in 2D?

I was thinking.. Why not?
Because it may be "unfair" to the RAF side? War is not fair!

Always try to achieve at least 3:1 odds when assaulting the enemy!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I ran some Convoy Campaign (when the Germans were the weakest) tests with BoBIIv2.13 to try and achieve 3:1 odds with LW Staffeln to RAF Squadrons.

I found that I could only achieve 2:1 odds fighter against fighter.
Sometimes 7:3 with 3 Gruppen of escorts with a single bomber Gruppe.
Sometimes 10:3 with 4 Gruppen of escorts with a single bomber Gruppe, if I get really heavy handed, and lucky.
Sometimes 11:5 with the MASSIVE Raid that I form up!

WARNUNG! ACHTUNG!
The RAF Campaign Artificial Intelligence will detect the current pattern of LW attacks on Target types,
and Dowding will send extra Patrols over those Target types! He was not stupid!
So.. be aware, and beware of Patrols! Your attack odds may suffer.
Never attack with no less than 2:1 odds, at least!
Always keep at least one Staffel of escorts in reserve, expecting the unexpected!
Life is not always easy, like a walk in the park with a pretty girl on your arm.
You may find yourself surrounded by assholes and idiots!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I send one Gruppe of He111s escorted Close with 1 fighter Gruppe, in front,
and 3 Gruppen in Detached escort, arriving Late,
to initially bomb Kingston Hawker factory, which MUST BURN! (always cut off the enemy's supply lines, first, before killing them)
Maybe a bit heavy handed, but I do not faak around with piddling probing attacks. (Like my bulldogbitch wife, I go for the throat!)

Low level attack as it is Poor weather. I actually prefer low level bombing. The level bombers will concentrate upon and lay bombs close on Target. WHAM! BAM! THANK YOU MAAM!
Image

I goose step into England with a small bomber force of 30 He111s, but with as many Fighters that I can muster.
One Gruppe Close Escort in front,
Three Gruppen Detached, Late, to clean up the mess! All in column. First met, First joined.
Always go forth with a Reserve backup!
Three RAF Squadrons rise up from der Hexen Kessel of Kenley and Biggin Hill.
COME OUT AND FIGHT!

Image

I go into my usual position just behind the Bomber leader, which the RAF fighters usually goes for
to try and break up (down) the bomber formation.
(I usually Frag into the bomber position directly behind my Leader, to offer him as much protection that a blind old man can offer!)
and see if if my godforsaken escorts can beat off the Interceptor attack.
Not many dead men yet..
I see two Close Escort Staffeln not yet engaged. In reserve for future possible Patrol(s) over Target. OK.

Image

Looking around, seeing if my escorts are behaving OK,
Pretty damned soon I see tracers shooting around my bomber!
Faak Oh Dear!
I quickly jump into the Gunner position.. Faak! not forward!! CLICK.. CLICK..
I get into ventral gun, finally..
and see a Hurricane just below me 50 yards? away.. and I pull the trigger on this audacious Fighter Boy..
spitting bullets at him at him when his wings fill the total screen view, cannot miss....
BOOM!
GODDAMNFAAKSHITERIE!

Image

My heart was pounding a bit, just like after sex!

Being the calm and cool laid back casual observer that I am..
I go to external view and look at what my escorts are doing.
A lot more burning wrecks. Getting bloody very quick!
Why do I have to shoot one down, in a bomber, you frigging German Fighter Boys!?
We should have at least 2:1 odds on these Anglo Saxon Normans!

Image

OK.. I am OK..
Pant... Pant.. on my way to bomb the Hawker Hurricane factory at Kingston on Thames.
All the fighter boys busy behind..

Image

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now for v2.14 I have redeployed Balloon Command.
I was not satisfied with the old Rowan barrage balloon deployments as to true history, or as to military common sense.
I put 3 Flights of Barrage Balloons around the Kingston Hawker factory,
to discourage such evil volk (such as myself) from attacking it at low level.

It is not my intention to give advantage to the British or the Germans.
It has always been my intention to seek the elusive and beautiful Goddess Of Truth.
She is the only one that I worship.

OK.
I am happy to report that my new barrage balloons deployed around Kingston, (and other important Factories and Docks) do actually kill German invaders.

After that Hurricane got my heart pounding a bit.. I looked at my bombers going to Kingston.
Saw two bombers peel off DEAD.
Not due to the FLAK that I placed around here, either, I well know.
My Balloon cables snagged them. :)

Red lines show the Barrage Balloon kills.
White lines denote locations of some of the Barrage Balloon.

Image

I destroyed the Kingston Hawker factory, and only 1 RAF fighter (of three Squadrons sent aloft) managed to get back to Biggin Hill.

Image

If I cannot achieve 3:1 odds, then 2.5:1 odds is OK with me. :P

The Battle of Britain Development Group does not have my permission to include any files that I have made available since 2.13 was released in any further BDG update of BoBII Wings of Victory.

OK. Did we by chance manage to include some of your
files in a previous release without remembering
to ask permission first? If so, most sincere apologies,
and don't let us do it again. I'm sure you understand
we are a pretty disorganized bunch, but there are obviously
lines that should not be crossed!
