I've just come forward in time from "Over Flanders Fields" to (re)discover the joys of BoBII v2.10. Outstanding work chaps, and on my new 24" monitor it looks amazing. Only trouble is, don't these Spitfires go quick! My Sopwith Triplane only manages @110 mph and every so often its wings fall off in a tight turn, and no parachute. I'm desperately in need of retraining. Thanks again for your continuing labour of love.

See what BoB2 does to people?! :mrgreen:

What? I just have my priorities in the right place. :)

The good news is there was a nice World Wars museum that I drooled over (lots of minute artefacts, like pilot logs, uniforms) for a bit.

But now I'm back, need to reinstall BoB2 and get the update going. :)

Just received the disk that marine was kind enough to send me and have patched BoB to 2.10.

Keen to get into the air and see the new goodies I selected Instant Action, Basic Training, Take-Off. Aircraft and cockpit are fine, but the airfield is devoid of any buildings. They are there but as ghost see-through form. I tried a couple of different arifields and aircraft, same result.

Suggestions?

I have Object Quality at maximum, and Ground Object Density at Full. My system is:
Intel Pentium D 3.00GHz Asrock, 2GB DDR2 RAM, ATI HD 4850 1GB DDR3 RAM

Cheers :)

Hi Pipspriller,

Happy you got the BOBII CD and another big thanks to our BOBII supporter, Marine, for mailing it.

It is a driver issure on your ATI video card (4850), I think.

We will need to find an old thread on the Technical forum which should recommend a driver that works.

Try this thread to get you started:

Thanks for the link to that thread Buddye. Adaptive anti-aliasing was the culprit, I had enabled it when I changed some settings in the ATI CCC. It's disabled now and the game is just beautiful!! :D

I'm off to explore what seems to be a totally revamped world! :mrgreen:

Hi everyone

First up,thanks to everyone for all the hard work thats been put into 2.10.Sadly for me i cannot get it to work on my pc.i did the usual delete everything and backed up my files ie bdg,saves folder etc for the 2.09 version and 2.08 multiskin.

I run the cc clean and re installed the bob2 and then installed the new 2.10 (tried various ways like re booted pc between installs etc) everything looks good i get the selection/front page with all the options like load campaign multi player and so on.but when i cliked on new campaign it gose to the raf/luftwafe page.then click begin,everything looks good up to nowThe mission map shows) and then soon as i go to fly the spitfire,it gose to loading landscape and the red bar which indicates how much has loaded reaches about 3/4 full..it crashes and i get a window pop up saying...we are sorry but bob2 has encounted a problem and so on..and on the bottom of the pop up window is "send to microsoft".

i have tried also to install the new multi skin have cleaned everything re installed everything.

my computer set up is as follows:

windows xp pro 2002
service pack 3
intel (r) 4 cpu 2.66 GHz
2.67GHz 2Gb ram
Nvidia geforce fx 5200 (latest driver updated)

any help here would be most helpfull.thanks in advance.

in the mean time i have re installed the 2,09 and 2.08 multi and eveything is running sweet.With which i am very happy as i can still fly my favourite game.Again thanks to everyone for all the hard work theyhave with the updates...cheers everyone and happy hunting

Hi biffa, sorry for the problem.

Did you see the notes? (Release notes)

Note1: this update will bring *any* previous version up to 2.10. You do not need any previous patches at all.

Note2: You will need the latest DirectX to run 2.10.
[/b]You will get a missing .dll error if you do not. When you run the 2.10 self-installer it will point you to the Microsoft DirectX update page. Update to DirectX9.0c (June version). Unfortunately, there are multiple versions of 9.0c so if in any doubt, update.

Note3: The MultiSkin
patch should go ON TOP OF Battle of Britain 2: Wings of Victory v2.10 Patch (English) OR Battle of Britain 2: Wings of Victory v2.10 Patch (International)
You should have a 256M gfx card to be sure to run without issues.

Note4: How to back up your existing settings from earlier BoBII updates.
Buddye's installation guide HERE-> http://www.a2asimulations.com/forum/vie ... 0&t=19368B
Back up your Bdg.txt and \savegame, \2dGauge, and \keyboard folders (these folders contain all your settings and joystick buttons)

Note5: If you have a low end system and experience a crash once into 3D, go to your bdg.txt file and set LANDSCAPE_TEXTURE_SIZE = 1024 (the default is 2048). This will reduce the landscape texture resolution by a factor of 4 and should help users with low system memory.

Note6: Windows Vista users. All Vista users will need to apply the 'Vista fix' to your desktop shortcut as a 2.10 overwrites previous shortcuts.
Right click on shortcut and go to properties. Go to the compatibility tab. Check "disable desktop composition" and check the privilege level, run this program as an administrator.

Did you try "Note 5"?

LANDSCAPE_TEXTURE_SIZE = 1024

Also set the following as your video card is a bit weak for multi skin, IMHO.

MULTI_SKIN_MODE=DISABLE

The BOBII version 2.10 performance requirements with all the new skins, objects, AI, and effects have increased. See the following link for some tuning tips:

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10091

This should get you going on 2.10 if you want to give it a try.

I can't seem to download the 2.10 patch. I have tried for several weeks. The download just stops after a few seconds.
Is there anyone in Australia that could send me a dvd?

Strange. I can put it up on a FTP server, but unfortunately the server does not have "resume". Still, IMO it is worth a try.
If that does not work and no one from Australia steps forward, I will send a package with a disc from here.
