For some reason when I click on the link for the "gear mechanism" I get taken to the Fileden page, but not the zip file :?

Thanks I must have accidentally deleted it. The link should now work. All the latest updtaes are also in the Soundmods.zip download in my main post. I hope to get the high rev/low prop angle external engine sound (enrafexl.wav) working better in-game but hopefully this version is a step in the right direction as an alternative sound more suited to open canopy rather than external view.

Thanks Boreas. One thing though. I D/L the file for the Spitfire Gear Mechanism sound, but the file is actually the Gearoll sound, which I'm useing already. I'm looking for the Gear Mechanism sound which I'm assumeing is the sound the landing gear makes when being retracted or lowered.

This provides authentic DB601 engine start-up sounds for Luftwaffe aircraft based on Fish 40’s idea. It's advisable to install with JSGME as it overwrites some sounds shared with RAF aircraft.

Alternative sound (slightly different):

I’ve organised these for easy use with JSGME to replace my RAF sound mods download. It includes additional in-cockpit RAF engine sounds, gun sounds and gear roll sounds. Take care not to delete the stock sounds if you install these manually. Any feedback will be most welcome.

I’ve added some new RAF gun sounds to my collection. Put simply I made these by slicing a number of different Browning AN-M2 recordings into individual bullets and then re-assembling and mixing them at the correct rate of fire and improving them until they seemed pretty accurate :). It might be of interests that the player and AI gun sounds are the same sound but with different equalisation, one being in stereo the other mono. Installation advice is in the second file which is my complete collection including some small updates.

WOW. Boreas! The new gun sounds are incredible. I've been on the hunt for good sounds for many months now to replace the browning in game. I can proudly say that I've found them now :D

I’m very pleased you like the new gun sounds SupermarineSpit. I think you appreciate the difficulties in attempting to recreate a relatively organic sound for machineguns (I didn’t though when I started!). The AI sound seems fairly similar to the two actual recordings I've heard, so hopefully the main sound holds some authenticity. I’m hoping the imperfections I’ve been unable to filter out will not be so noticeable in the game when there will be many other sounds being played.

I like your sound work. Many of the sound mods you've made are an improvement over stock issue.
Currently I am assembling files and folders for v2.12, and would like to include some of your work as stock issue, with your permission.
- gearroll (grass)
- bullet impacts (glass ones)
- This last RAF engine sounds
- this last RAF gun sounds
- undercarriage sound

maybe some others that I have overlooked?

I'd like a sound mod where the pilot apparently poops himself when he's going to crash.

just to make the moment more enjoyable to all. :)

I’m very happy to provide permission and would feel very honoured if the BDG were content to include any of my mods as stock sounds.

One of the modded LW flywheel sounds might still work quite well and more authentically in manual engine management without affecting the RAF sounds although I think I heard some generic start-up sounds briefly mixed with it when I tested it.

Thanks very much for the consideration of these sounds.
