"desktop composition" is something which appears if you
right click on the launch icon for the program, and select
properties, at the bottom of the menu, then select "compatibility"
in the available tabs that appear. You can check boxes for
disabling things and running as administrator. I used to have
all that done, but curiously, I have been doing reinstalls
while testing the 2.13 release, and I never checked that the
settings were updated, so currently I'm running a W7 install
without the "desktop composition" disabled, or "run as admin"
active, and the sim seems to still run OK.

As far as re-D/L ing a purchased version from A2A, a PM to
Lewis ought to get you going - Lewis now works for A2A, but
he found his way there from the BDG, so he knows us well.

I don't know what might be going on with your install. Did you
test it with the original version before patching (it requires the
disc to be in the drive)?

How do you get this "Starforce" message? Where does it
show up, and when?

Does it write a file that you're quoting here:

2015/11/06 14:35 Application Hang The program Setup.exe version 11.0.50131.17379 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Got any idea what an "Action Center control panel" is?
I don't recall any such "starforce" nonsense on my BoB2
CD - I seem to recall that GMX wanted to put Starforce on,
and vigorous opposition led to them reconsidering. Yeah, here:
http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... =starforce

It appears they took a different tack with the "third world",
being paranoid of pirating, and not particularly concerned
with sales in such markets. I have no idea about starforce
other than horror stories I've heard from people who were
afflicted with it in software around 2003-4. It managed to
do damage to CD players or something when it tried to
interfere with things it mistook for hacking.

Yes, I suppose email to sales would work as well as a PM.
You must realize you should always write a CD or DVD of
a download upon receipt, and archive it. But A2A are very
supportive of customers - if you've bought one of their products,
as far as they're concerned, you've bought it, it's yours, and
they'll support you as much as they can.

Hi Hazzie!
Have you tried any other sim/game? Is it working?
I know for sure that copying data from "users" directory to another one it´s a recipe for disaster.
This is a very dangerous thing to do. You should only copy files you created or "data files" (per
example images, music, books, etc). Never try to copy "configuration files" from one system to another
as you will encounter any problems.
If you have luck, it will work, but the programs usually doesn´t like this configuration changes.
Just a quick tip, don´t use the windows directories for anything...your live will be longer and happier ;)
(and step away from C: drive)

Something that maybe related, special attention to the OP and the response from Sethos88. Apparently they have been adding this to the Win7 updates so it just not a Win10 thing

Thanks PV Trump, Arq, SS and God-Zille fro the amazing brain input

learned some (important ) things, actually

am looking into this now - awaiting BoBII D/L - and then shall see if this theory ( orig CD is flawed ) is proven or flawed, of if this is my OS / Users transfer or other issue etc - then back to redoing C drive or await new SSD, load clean windows without users, then transfer emails
( this communication and new computer issue given me such the sh*ts, that have ordered a separate server low-power computer, to deal with communications such that it can be removed from the honcho computer )

Trump - thanks - Lewis replied himself from A2A - simple jus logon to the A2A store site ( different to the forum password - had to get via email )
then go to top RHS - 'ACCOUNTS' -an there are all your pev purchases, which you can d/l again ( beware = x4 times only up to 2029)

the A2A page with the details of prev purchase, d/L etc

I wasn't terribly happy to find you'd slid the 2.11 version
of img0016 back into a blend with the 2.12 version. I
thought I had finally gotten that thing turfed. I really
don't like it at all. I would rather you built a new one.
It is based on a mirroring of a chunk of terrain, and
despite some attempt to disguise it, the mirroring shows
plainly. It is also not chaotic enough. It is the only
texture we have for any hedge-and-tree-free terrain
other than the img0004 lawn, and so it has to serve for
salt and lake marsh, moor, and every other form of
wilderness including unkempt pasture. The current version
only works for the last. It is insufficiently lumpy, insufficiently
green, and too lined with trails, which make it easy to
discern repeated tilings. With the 2.12 texture. I finally
had something which could be used on the Salisbury plain
moors without looking like a checkerboard, but now we're
back there again.

I hadn’t noticed at the effect on Salisbury plain. Ok I will see what commonality those types of terrain have on Bing maps and try to put something together.

I updated my terrain mod to include the revised airfield grass and a new scrubland texture in which I included some of the original 2.12 version for more variation. http://www.mediafire.com/download/f4glh ... ter_3b.zip

That new img0016 is a huge improvement, I'm
going to employ it immediately. Thanks.
