Might try a few new tricks to see if some of the canopies can be made a bit clearer with more realistic visibility.
Nuke them canopy effects.

These canopies should be clearer but still have some reflections and armoured glass effect and gun sights should look a bit better. Have not changed Bf110 canopy and bomber gunnery position glass as these will need a file to be swapped. http://www.mediafire.com/file/e1a3i97j9 ... 9_ju87.zip

Hi Boreas

Just tried them, and they are a big improvement. You get the feel of a perspex canopy without it noticeably affecting visibility, must be offered as an alternative in the next patch.

Does anybody know why Westminster Abbey doesn't feature as a model in bob2? I checked out the IL2Clod model in game and it looks to be a complicated model as far as buildings go, flying buttresses and all.

I dabbled in 3d modeling 14 years ago and eventually gave it up for lack of a suitable project, though I wouldn't mind giving this a try.

I would need advice on accessing the bin files to import an existing building as a scale reference .

Hi rogeroger: I have little expertise in 3D modelling, but I'm
happy to encourage any such inclination. I'm also rather
ignorant of the varieties of landmark buildings which could be
placed. We currently have Canterbury Cathedral and Chichester
Cathedral, I believe, done by our main volunteer modeller Ben,
back when he was actively contributing. My only requested
building was the Battersea Power Station, as I had read that
it was a major landmark at the time. with the smokestacks
visible for many miles, acting as an unconcealable guidepost
for incoming bombers. Ben eventually granted my request.

Unfortunately Ben hasn't been around for quite a while, but
in the last year we have had a new modeller step up and do
a bit of modelling for us, Vramesh, who has provided us some
new objects for Calais. as I say, I'm no modelling expert, but
perhaps Vramesh will pop by and provide some instruction.
Meanwhile, i can point you to a bit of discussion where he
gives some indication of what's involved, if you can make sense of
this: http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... 15#p323481

This includes some new canopy glass revisions with some my other recent non terrain mods and should improve the LW bomber gunner postilion and Bf110 visibility which I would like to have done better on originally. The blendmap file includes a further revised rail texture. http://www.mediafire.com/file/866sv51uq ... isions.zip

Hoping there might also be terrain updates from you rogeroger. I’ve been hovering over the bolder green fields quite a lot .:)

Hi Boreas

Haven't flown much recently, must put some time in and check out the terrain again. Any input as to what can be changed will be most welcome.

I've started work on the westminster model.

progress so far on the main building :

Once I've finished with the left half, I'll use a mirror modifier to create the right half, then join the two. Most of the finer detail will be provided by the texture, to keep poly count as low as possible.

I'm not used to working with blender, so I'm learning as I go.

Actually, creating the model is the easy part, getting it into the game is probably going to take some effort. I'll hopefully cross that bridge when I get to it.

Imagebam is shutting down at the end of the month so I used Postimage to store the above images. I suppose the images I've uploaded to the forum from imagebam will disappear at the end of the month.

Good to see the new model is in the works. I noticed some terrain tile edge colours not matching and a few very small issues. Can advise further when and if required.

Hi Boreas

A small fix that I made on image7 after releasing the bolder green terrain. I've included the old file as well :

http://www.mediafire.com/file/gfd516egq ... __FIX1.zip

Some cloud options, CFS3 (I included one of these in my Alt bob terrain zip)and jetfighter 5 clouds.

I've included full versions for blocky clouds and lite versions ,narrower sparse cloud layers as well as darkened versions of each for use with reshade hdr to counter the overexposed effect:

I just remembered that I cleaned up the tile edges a while back. I got so caught up in placing objects that I forgot to post it, so sorry my mistake(old age is a bugger).

I used the not so intelligent scissors in gimp to isolate the fields and for some reason it wouldn't select close to the edges, I had to clean them up with the clone tool. Update here:

Any problems just shout.

I forgot to make a quick flattened version of my terrain templates http://www.mediafire.com/file/733gn5922 ... ersion.zip. They are tga format as dds didn't save properly in paintnet. Will see if I can put a layered dds version together in gimp though.

I want to use Canterbury Cathedral and Chichester Cathedral as a guide to determine the detail level of my Westminster Abbey model, but when I fly over Cantebury, I find that no objects have been placed there. Is this normal?

Scratch the above question . I just read Stickman's Canterbury Industry Target post.

Glad to hear the artwork and texts were recovered and I take it Cantebury will be restored to former glory in the next update. :D I'll use Chichester as a reference.
