NEWS.
13 December, 2009
1. I replaced most all of my mods to be used with Jone Soft Generic Mod Enabler.
2. Added some new or revised, Spitfire gauges and calibrations for them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many of my modifications throughout the BoB years have been used for stock in updates.
Many more have not. I am not the BDG one that decides what goes into a new Update Installer.
No matter to me, but there are some of my modifications that are, to me, better than stock issue.
When I install a new Update, I have a file called ReInstalls, that have my personal preferences.
Here are some:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Variable_Sea

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?xjciiiy45mz

With stock, the sea is colored with a single file, called fresnel. This file applies to all time and weather conditions.
Osram made the code so that each different time of day, and each different weather condition can have a
unique and different fresnel file associated with those conditions.
16 different looks. Bless Osram!

The one I made is based on a Pacific, Golfo de Mexico, or Mediterranean Blue sea. I like blue sea, that's why I live Hawai'i!
You can make it grayer and greener using the bdg.txt variables.
The stock values are thus:
WATER_COLOUR_DARK_R = 50
WATER_COLOUR_DARK_G = 50
WATER_COLOUR_DARK_B = 50
WATER_COLOUR_LIGHT_R = 0
WATER_COLOUR_LIGHT_G = 0
WATER_COLOUR_LIGHT_B = 0

50 is a neutral gray color, and I made my fresnels decidedly deep blue to use these 50, 50, 50, default COLOURS.

For a greener, grayer sea, you might try these values, and fiddle with them to your Channel tastes.
WATER_COLOUR_DARK_R = 70
WATER_COLOUR_DARK_G = 80
WATER_COLOUR_DARK_B = 40
WATER_COLOUR_LIGHT_R = 0
WATER_COLOUR_LIGHT_G = 0
WATER_COLOUR_LIGHT_B = 0

NOTES!
1. I always keep the WATER_COLOUR_LIGHT values at 0. These values only effect the look during Dusk and Dawn.
2. Why should we be slaved to a single fresnel, when we have 16 different conditions of sea looks?!
I have tried here to break away from this single limitation.

INSTALLATION:
Made for JSGME.
Extract to the BoBII MODS folder, and use JSGME to install. Or remove.

Cleaner Gunner Glass

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?znwzrebzdzd

There is a single texture in COCKPM16 that all level bombers use as the reflective glass
for external glass and the glass that bomber gunners look through.
Through the Glass Darkly! I call it!
It is a deficiency that all level bombers must share this single texture, like a mining town has only one working girl. :evil:
As I play LW mostly, I don't give a damn what the external aircraft glass looks,
what I want is a gunner's windscreen that is not filthy dirty, and I can see out of!
So I made, and always use this mod.

The old, at left, and the new, at right:
Image

Some comparison pics. I did not wipe out the mask, only cleaned up the color overlay.
Stock, here with Do17 belly gunner, which is the worst. I do not want kill light reflections totally,
just tone the originals down some, where I can see without looking directly into the sun god's and dirt devil's eye!
It is much worse sometimes than this shot:
Image

Here, I cleaned it up a bit. Same time, same aspect, same as above. "I was blind before, now I can see!"

This mod is assembled for use with JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler.
Extract the zip to the MODS folder in BoBII.

Av Gas Explosion

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dqmjdygmwne

An old mod I made soon after BoBII came out. It is minor, and hard to see, unless you see exploding aircraft.
The stock TextureMap/flash.add texture, drawn when an aircraft blows up, is an all white circle.
Mind ye, an explosion lasts only a fraction of a second, but I wanted it to look like aviation gasoline is exploding,
and not like a white nuke.
Anyone, like me, that has observed an oil refinery flare stack burning hydrocarbons,
sent to the stack in long periodic shots, as if a Safety Relief Valve is popping open from over pressure every 2 seconds or so,
knows what a bit of gasoline looks like when it is ignited, and then smokes out. Within a second. Smoke lingers another second or so, depending on amount of gas, wind velocity, etc.

Pay no attention to the sea color here! I was experimenting long ago with this.
I did have to use Replay to capture exactly the split second where the fireball expands to maximum as painted.
The exploding enemy is ~ 300? yards away.
I did not make the flash.add explosion bigger than stock. Visible size is the same in the texture.

PeliStick Cliff

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nyyxnjyynmn

A Frenchman named Pelican2 made this mod. I retouched it slightly to reduce the "repeatable" look.
It may not be chalky enough, but it is my choice to use rather than the stock one, which looks a bit plain and flat.
Stock:
Image

PeliStick. This looks less flat faced, and while it has a repeatable look, I tried to minimize it.

Map Icons v2

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?n0kxonon51m

The first Map Icons mod I made was a high res remake of the old Rowan 64x64 ones that were ugly.
This is now stock in game. They are 256x256, and the RAF ones use a blue wing roundel.
This 2nd version I made is the same, but the RAF uses a yellow side roundel.
I like this style with the yellow outer ring, especially as it shows the RAF locations better when many of them are clumped together.

Got bored looking at stock BoBII title menus. Made out to make some others.
These two images are from a young Englishman. Rigamortiz, he calls himself. Whatever! He ain't dead. :)

This first one I have used for many months, now.

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?onuqgnlzzqm

Image

This one I adopted today. Less sea scape, more land scape, with pursuit different.

Image

INSTALLATION:
1. Extract the RAR(s) to your desktop or a Temporary folder.
2. These files are used in the English/TEXT folder, or
if German, then German/TEXT, or
if French, then French/TEXT.
3. In all language versions, the file must be named as title for the game to use it.
Rename the title_1.bmp as title (from where you downloaded it to)
and paste it into the English/TEXT folder. Or German/TEXT..or French/TEXT...as you use.

Here is a picture that shows where this title goes (using the English):

If anyone wants to know what I look like after a hard day at work at the Refinery..
This is at my house, after I can strip off my coveralls, hardhat, goggles, gloves, earplugs, etc...

stickman.
Have downloaded the 2 files for the menu options screen.
Didnt work,as all i had was a black screen with the menu writing,no problem though,as i had backed up the english folder.
So i experimented for awhile with the files,found you couldnt rename the files the same on desktop,so i put one of the files in another folder,then used them seperately.
Now they are both working when i want them.
I must say those 2 files are absolutely brilliant,certainly gives more attraction to the game when opening up the menu.
Wish we could get the cliffs like that in the game itself,they look so real.
Rigamortiz (hope it doesnt set in :)) did a brilliant job on them.
Thanks.

Stickman I think I owe you an apology. As I credited Stalkervision with your 2-D gauges. I put it down to old age and forgetting. My wife calls it senile.

I have modified your EPI gauge. I have set the new rings at 500 yards and 1000 yards. Hopefully, I have that correct. As you can see from the picture. The enemy is approximately 250 yards. My guns are set at 220 yards. I would like to pass these directly on to you as hopefully, it would make it easier for anybody else to use them or I could put them on my website, which is not quite so easy for others to use

Now that I have got my computer room back after house renovations. I would like to have a go at the 3-D Spitfire fuel gauge but I will bring that up on the beta testing forum.

Dynamo.

Holdaway,
No apology needed. No one owes me anything, as I like it to be.

Good idea! I made my single ring for 2000 feet. Give or take... I was using the I key press when looking at a padlocked target.
These ring indicators for the EPI are what us Instrument Technicians call "relative indicators".
Not a precise measurement, but give the operators a fairly good indication.

You can put any of your modifications her, if you wish. We have no "sticky" Mod thread, except this one.

As promised. My version of stickman's gauges and Buddye's positioning on the screen. Do save or rename the old versions and then unzip files into the 2-D gauge directory. You can pick the file is up at: < http://web.ukonline.co.uk/phold/flight.html > just enjoy.
