emcom1,

Quote:
Some Gruppen did not participate at all (while others in the same Geschwader did fly combat missions during the period. For these, I have identified same type (aircraft type) units that did fly and built their in-game morale/fatigue and experience based on the replacement unit's history. (Stickman is working on altering their skins in 3D to match the replacements.)

Replacements made
EG210 for I/ZG76
IV/LG1 for III/SG2
II/LG1 for III/KG54
V/LG1 for III/ZG2
I/LG2 for III/JG52

Quote:
In addition, some of the level bombing units only flew naval and harbor missions (primarily seeding sea mines) and can't be considered as genuine particpants in the main campaign. These no longer activate at all.

All three Gruppen of KG 4 based in Holland.

The other unit that will not activate is this one, I think.
I/KG27 (He-111) was performing armed recon until the first known raid on 20 Sept.

The information Stickman provided is correct. While he is working on the skins to match the look of the replacements, you won't see the correct unit designations in the campaign interface. The basic dialog windows and strings used by Rowan are not something I can modify at present.

I could use some help painting a "standard stock" skin for the EG 210. I ain't very good at skinning aircraft.
Although I did paint the shark mouth. It was hell hard to do with all the squeezing and stretching going on with the ME110's model under nose.
I made it good enough that a critic would have to zoom up within feet of the nose to spot the few flaws that I left in.
A helluva lot harder than spray painting a fuselage side.
Still got gauges for all ME110C's that I would like to work on improving, first. As well as some other projects.

Thanks for the great work guys  and thank you heinkill for sharing the good news with the rest of us.
Since the discussion here is about LW campaign, it reminded me about setting the minimum altitude limitation in campaigns. As you know you can set the raid's altitude by opening the mission folder and click on the "Route" and then you can change the altitudes by clicking on their respective numbers, but the minimum altitude there is 1000 meters or 3000 feet while lots of LW raids flown at 50-100m or 150-300ft to avoid radar detection. I wonder if altitude options below the 1000m limit in the campaigns are or will be considered?

Cheers.

Hi Racoon,

I noticed the minimum altitude setting as well and it's on the list. Pretty far down, but I too would very much like to see low altitude raids that are hard to intercept. The history very much supports such raids by 110s and level bombers. Oh, some raids flew in the 50-100 foot range. In one story, Ju-88s were flying level with the third story of a hospital; the patients were looking into the cockpits which were on the same level.

Great to see all these improvments.

Just one question,in RAF campaign, the JU87 and me 110 use their rear gun sometime but sometime not and for me it's a turkey shoot, are you going to solve this problem? It's happen also with the level bombers.
I'll notice also the me 109 are not very agressive with me when I fly wingman.

Thanks

Are you looking for 1 skin for the Gruppe? or are the Me110 skins to be expanded like the 109's?

S!

That is as far as I was going to do. Down to Staffel level would be better.

That will be our ultimate goal. I confess that I am not the best skinner around, and was not going to spend much time perfecting
MultiSkin for the Lehr units.
I have so many other things to complete.

Hi Sticky,

its been a while and looks like you guys have really been giving the old girl a good going over.

I had 3 110 skins working in the game, keyed for different units, and also had unit markings and staffel specific spinners.
Unfortunately, my desktop computer had a psu failure and is presently in pieces. May be a couple of weeks before I can get things back up and
running and see what I have.

This looks amazing, keep up the good work. I think it would be really interesting to do a bomber campaign, especially if the fighter plane battles are in close proximity. It would be one hell of a show.

Hopefully I would have learnt to fly on a flight model better than novice by the time it is out

So does this mean with a not historically accurate LW campaign, that the Hurricanes get air to air missiles?

Sorry, just had to.

Have only know about BOBII WOV for a couple weeks and my wife bought it for me for $20 for a fathers day gift. I'm curious though, if the volunteers who are working on this don't get any pay, where does the money go?

Hi and welcome to BOBII and the BOBII forums and community.

Assuming your PC is a gamers PC and can handle BOBII, all you need is the BOBII game and the 2.11 UPdate. The 2.11 Multiskin (real RAF and Luf A/C markings and skins) is optional but very nice if your PC can handle the video and processor cost.

The money goes to A2A which did release BOBII back in 2005. BOBII had some problems after release and did not make a profit. The all volunteer BDG (BOB Development group) is responsible for the updates and maintenance of BOBII. A2A host the BOBII forums and and does the self-installer for our updates.

For more details on the BDG and A2A relationship see this link:

Thank you for the welcome Buddye. I shall make a more proper intro post in the BOB General discussion area.

No I don't have a tricked out gaming rig. However after the Fiasco of FSX and it's "Advertised" minimum and maximum hardware and system specs (what a joke), I have learned how to tweak things some to get this 5 year old PC to run FSX at a steady 20 fps in most areas. I'll post more in the General Discussion so as not to side track this thread.
However, I am looking forward to the release of 2.12.

Great news about the campaign!

I have a question though, and I apologize if it was answered somewhere and I missed it. Going over the campaign code, are there any future plans to add different ways to win the LW campaign, other than air supremacy by beating RAF in the air? I'm referring to Heinkills tips on how to win the LW campaign: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=11481#p110378

The way you win the campaign apparently makes a lot of actions useless or harmful such as attacking the radar stations or actually destroying airfields. I find it a little bit silly if the reason for your bombers isn't to bomb things, but to lure RAF to attack them. I actually enjoy the flying part much more than the thought of winning the campaign but it would definitely boost the experience to know that there are more than one way to beat the RAF.
